I just finished Her Mother's Hope by Francine Rivers. Where do I begin? The main character Marta took me on an emotional rollercoaster. While I started out feeling bad for her I ended up loathing her. She became that which she despised. Honestly I think the book made you think about how you treat others, and really pray about why others do as they do. Instead of becoming that which she despised Hildie turned the other cheek and prayed for enemies; seeking to understand the pain that drove them. It was seen as a weakness. Marta's "love" for Hildie was never taken as love because the motivation of her actions were never understood. The effect on Hildie was never understood. We may never know how our words and actions affect others, but we MUST examine them. A well developed plot and realistic characters. I must read the next to know what becomes of Marta and Hildie. Will they let the love of Christ heal them and their relationship?
